Monday:
Why don’t you evaluate your life and see what habits you could improve upon or add to make the quotidian tasks of the day more pleasant? Maybe you eat too much or drink too much or drive too fast or have an unhealthy obsession with spending money. Maybe you don’t study or eat enough or sleep too little. Everything is okay in moderation, but you can’t let yourself be consumed by your unhealthy habits (or lack thereof). I stopped eating so much during Thanksgiving Break — the dumbest time to do something like that — and I was so annoyed at how well I was feeling. It’s as if you shouldn’t eat a million calories every day.
Tuesday:
Why don’t you take advantage of unique opportunities when they arise? For some reason that I am unaware of and for some reason I was not informed of, Judy Garland’s daughter, Lorna Luft is traveling in a revival of the musical White Christmas. I don’t particularly care for the holiday, but I do care about seeing a descendant of JUDY! The show is in Des Moines right now so I immediately got one of the last front row seats for the final show. I’m so giddy about this. Life can be marvelous and such fun when you let it. Some things are just worth splurging on…like my new Jonathan Adler rug that the cats and I are absolutely obsessed with. Treat yourself, reader, you deserve it.
Wednesday:
Why don’t you wear rings on every finger and gleefully clash gold and silver bands? I’m definitely more of a gold, but I don’t mind the gold clashing with my silver ring. I’m up to five rings now on both hands and I don’t know if I’ll ever not wear them. I’ll probably end up with one for each digit. Like the lady at the spice shop who complimented them said, they’re all unique and they all have stories. So true! Some were bought in Mexican markets others found in pants at Goodwill and yet others are family heirlooms. They look marvelous together and I feel so fancy.
Thursday:
Why don’t you throw almost everything away before it weighs your soul down and consumes you? I know that I’ve mentioned this before at least a hundred times, but I’m always amazed at how much more I’m able to get rid of. Even when I think I’ve whittled my possessions down, I realize that there are still bits that I can pare down. It’s the most freeing thing in the world to see old things you’ll never care about again pile up in trash bags or donation piles or an actual heap for a midwinter bonfire. I legit feel lighter without being the possessor of all that garbage. There’s still so much to purge!
Friday:
Why don’t you treat yourself to a new smart home device? You know I’m absurdly passionate about this technology. I bought myself the August Smart Lock Pro+ on Cyber Monday and I don’t regret it for a second. I no longer have to lock my door myself! I can keep my keys in my pocket! And it automatically unlocks when I get home! And I can unlock it with my voice or with my Apple Watch if I need to. It’s wonderful and I love all the ridiculous gadgets I’ve filled my house with. It’s almost like having staff!
