WHY DON’T YOU? #206

The other day, I was with my friend Jose and we were in the automotive aisle. I’d never been there before. It’s fascinating. You can buy steering wheel covers and wipes that keep your glass from fogging over and even little tubes of paint. I had an unexpectedly delightful time. I bought myself a little air pump so that I could fill the tire back up when I need to. And by me, I mean somebody else.
Monday: Why don’t you check yourself before you wreck yourself and never EVER tell me what to do? I’m a grown adult. I don’t need idiotic advice no matter how […]
I walked up and down the street where he allegedly lived. I lingered in the bookstore that he launched to sell books of his images. I found lists of shops he liked and visited them. I went to exhibitions that he put on. And when I was lucky enough to be in Paris during a Chanel show, you would know exactly where to find me, lurking around the Grand Palais. Let me tell you, reader, for a young fashion lover, there is nothing so intoxicating as an obstructed glimpse of the Chanel runway. I waited in the rain, longing for Karl to come out, but I never saw him.
LOVE: “La Reina del Sur” Return: She’s coming back. Teresa is coming back. LA REINA RETURNS! I honestly don’t think that I’ll be able to handle this. I can barely […]
I remembered something that has become a bit of my personal philosophy: you have to put yourself into situations for them to come true. I wouldn’t have had this or any number of bizarre and wonderful opportunities without taking the initiative to do it. I wouldn’t have meet Angela Lansbury, Prince Charles wouldn’t have winked at me, I wouldn’t have befriended ladies who live in chateaus or Villefranche apartments. I wouldn’t know British authors that I consider friends or professors in Kenya. I wouldn’t have lost Lady M in Giza and I wouldn’t have Hassan in Luxor. Life is about making it as grand and good as it can. In that moment, looking at the chow and the French bulldogs, I knew that I was exactly where I was meant to be.
LOVE: “The Librarians” on TNT: Basic cable Christmas specials with cheesy lines should not make me sob like an infant. But The Librarians did. How did I end up watching […]
LOVE: Chanel’s Spring/Summer 2016 Fashion Show: Karl Lagerfeld is a complete genius. I have tried so many times to meet that man. I have stalked Chanel boutiques around the world. I […]
Monday: Why don’t you treat yourself by going to your favorite haute couture boutique and getting something? Honestly, nothing feels better than buying yourself a present. On Monday, I went […]
Monday: Why don’t you forget about your responsibilities after work or school or whatever and go on a really, really, really long walk? Summer is over and autumn is quickly […]
